SHIRAI, M., NAKAMURA, M. and MATSUDA, S. Differential Diagnosis between Functional and Organic Impotence by Radioisotope Penogram Following Visual Sexual Stimulation. Tohoku J. exp. Med., 1973, 111 (2), 187-195 The radioisotope penogram, which measures changes of blood flow through the penis, was developed and applied as a measure of objective differentiation between functional and organic impotence. In the present study, changes in the radio isotope penogram curve were studied following visual sexual stimulation. In patients with functional impotence, the penogram curve rose in response to visual sexual stimulation. However in cases with an organic defect in the nervous system which participates in erection, including the upper erection center, there was no change in the penogram curve despite that the sexual excitation occurred in response to visual sexual stimulation. Therefore, this method was found to be useful for the differential diagnosis. impotence; radioisotope peno gram; visual sexual stimulation

Determination of intrapenial blood volume using 99mTc-labeled autologous red blood cells.
In 17 impotent patients, radioisotope penography was performed using 99mTc-red blood cells (the patient's own red blood cells labeled with 99mTc) for the quantitative analysis of intrapenial blood volume. A visual sexual stimulation (VSS) was given to the patient after injecting the 99mTc-red blood cells. Patients showing a complete erection had their intrapenial blood volumes 4.2-11.2 times gr...

To confirm the usefulness of our new erectile function test, Psychogenic Erection Monitoring using Sexual Stimulation Score, we monitored results in 150 patients with suspected impotence. As compared with conventional methods, this new test reduced the number of false negative and positive recordings and proved a useful method for diagnosis of impotence.
متن کاملThe causes and management of impotence.
